District
Municipal Corporation Karachi West (DMCW)
is the focus of this site. It offers to
the guest its multifaceted avenues, right
from information about itself --- to the
endangered green turtle that
come to lay eggs in the fine silver sands
on their fabulous home beeches, its
people that include living style of old and
diverse stratagems, one of the largest
unsettled populations in Asia, and
more.
Karachi is the biggest
city of Pakistan and capital of the
Province of Sindh. The city has five
populous districts to administer. Today
Karachi, with a population of over 10
million continues to grow at the rate of
6% per annum. To cater to the ever
swelling municipal requirements, a two
tiered municipal system has been evolved
for the city:
Karachi
Metropolitan corporation (KMC) The
single largest Local Government
institution in Pakistan, performs
larger function such as Water
supply to the city, constructing
major roads, bridges, and
bye-passes etc. The KMC also
generates revenue from sources
that fall under its purview.
Five District
Municipal Corporations (DMCs) of the
city: West; East, South,Central;
and Malir, have similar municipal
functions but each District has
its own geographical and
cultural blend.
